Death Knight Leveling Spec – Blood Specialization

Blood specialization is a great spec for solo questing/leveling and also can make a good tank spec for dungeon leveling in groups. The Blood spec is great for gathering up enemies in groups and then cutting them down. They deal good damage and can also take a punch. Blood spec uses Death Strike as part of its normal rotation you will be constantly getting healed while battling.which is what makes it my first choice for leveling, though all specs have there out play styles that suite certain players. For the purposes of this post I’m going to list the talents I would pick for solo-leveling.

Roiling Blood – Level 15 – Tier 1

Spreading Blood Plague among all targets you round up for execution via Pestilence, is going to allow you to dispatch your enemies faster with this mass DoT.  It is also a passive buff to an instant which is good as well. Plague Leech is better for PvP.  Unholy Blight is also a good talent but doesn’t serve a Blood spec as well.

Purgatory – Level 30 Tier 2

This is a good insurance policy. Lichborne just isn’t going to be that useful because the effects it prevents we won’t be running into much n PvE and has a 2 minute cooldown. Anti-Magic Zone is a pretty good talent but would be better if you were playing with a group of allies as the tank.  I’ll take the safety net triggered ability in Purgatory.

Death’s Advance – Level 45 – Tier 3

We are always looking for skills that allow us to move faster as much of the time or all the time if possible. Death’s Advance fits the mold nicely. When we can move faster from on encounter to the next faster, the quicker we can level up. It also nerfs the movement impairing effect that could be used on you. Chillblains is better for a Frost spec and Asphyxiate would be more useful in PvP.

Death Pact – Level 60 – Tier 4

Death Pact is pretty big healing ability for the Death Knight in Mists of Pandaria. It’s the best heal for us at this tier and the fact that it is a instant is really helpful as well. This is really going to help our survivability. It’s the best skill on this tier as far as I’m concerned, most people would agree.

Blood Tap – Level 75 – Tier 5

Blood Tap allows you to have more control  over the outcome of a battle and according to the math creates better DPS as well. Runic Corruption is also a popular choice and is more of the lazy mans choice for this tier, it is also a good talent. If you like having more versatility use BT if you are lazy choose RC.

Gorefiend’s Grasp/Remorseless Winter – Level 90 – Tier 6

Technically you are done leveling now. You can go on and do some instances or PvP. If you are going to be tanking, I would go with Gorefiend’s Grasp for sure. It can also be good for PvP sometimes. Other wise go with Remorseless Winter

I still love making new characters, but I hated the grind of leveling up efficiently, which usually means, going to outside web sites or buggy add-ons that don’t get updated when the next WoW patch goes into effect. And as anyone who plays many MMO usually knows already, you can quest… but it’s never as efficient as grinding unless the game developers specifically build quest-based leveling into the programming of the game in question. (As they did with Burning Crusade and Lich king, Cataclysm and now Mists of Pandaria) After playing for many years you start to recognize that there are always quests you miss out on in the lower levels. But they are far to scattered throughout the realms to be worth leveling off of because you can’t keep track of them or know which ones give out the most experience points.

Because of this, I decided that I would give a try to Zygor’s leveling guide.
